This week our school football team has had to deal with double heartache after 2 extremely impressive performances. On Monday evening we faced a very good Larkholme team, and despite being the better team on the night and playing some wonderful football, lost the game 5-3. The performance gained high praise from the referee who commended our teams never say die attitude and complimented our abilities on the ball.
Unfortunately, it was a very similar story on Tuesday night as we took on top of the table side The Breck. It was another superb team display with us creating the better and more consistent chances. If it wasn’t for a stunning display by The Breck’s goalkeeper we would have been home and hosed in the first half. It wasn’t to be however, and with 20 seconds remaining on the clock the game looked to be heading for a 1-1 draw when disaster struck. A defensive mix up allowed The Breck to win it, and the league, in the dying seconds.
It was another fine display that the referee commented was one of the best games he’s witnessed during the league this year.
